Our house is perched above Tomohaka (Tomahawk) beach with panoramic views of the surf and ocean. There is a small trail down to Tomohaka beach about 100 metres from the house. The gun emplacements are <100 metres and are a great place to check out the surf. Smails beach is about half a kilometre away, and there are many great walking/running trails close by. The house is not in great condition (we are about to undertake a large renovation) but is clean and very sunny.
There is a large concrete patio and pergola that is great for al fresco dining. There is a pizza oven with a herb garden (chives, tarragon, thyme, oregano, sage, chervil, rocket, mint, salad greens). Currently, access to the house is via a very steep staircase, so visitors must be comfortable with this. More photos to come soon (have recently joined Nov 2025).
Swap Dates/Periods: I am undertaking a research project based in Ōtautahi Christchurch hospital, so am looking for a house swap for a minimum of 5 days at a time throughout the year. I'm also looking for a longer swap (2-4 weeks) over winter (Apr-Jul 2026).
