What a great idea! I was about to spend a fortune on a hotel for my partner and I to go to Wellington for a wedding, but found a fantastic house swap opportunity on the site. Easy peasy. No problems...

We are are retired couple and grandparents of a total of 7. We are looking for swaps that could vary from 2 people to a likely maximum of 8, depending on the circumstances. Janet is a retired Interior Designer and Gordon a retired Consulting Civil Engineer. We have retired to Waiheke because we find it both stimulating and relaxed at the same time. Janet is a life member of the Community Art Gallery and has significant involvement in its activities while Gordon is currently chairman of Trustees of the Waiheke Literary Festival. We enjoy gardening and travel to new locations both in NZ and overseas. We like to visit new areas and are open to suggestions as to where a swap should be. However, logically, the most interesting places will be those generally recognised as holiday locations. The house we have available is used as holiday accomodation and, when not otherwise being used, is available for short term rental. It is fully self contained and provides for self catering for up to four people. It is smart, modern with a scandanavian feel. It is on a block of about 8 acres of land and privately situated adjacent to native bush, yet within a five minute walk to the beach in Okoka Bay.
Separate house, fully self contained and full kitchen and ensuite bathroms in quiet rural location near Rocky Bay, Waiheke Island. The property opens onto Council walkway to Okoka Bay beach. It is on 8 acres of land with half of that area taken up with native bush, with many native birds.
The cottage has open plan kitchen, dining and living which opens to a substantial north facing courtyard with seating, lounging and barbeque facilities. The main bedroom has a generous ensuite with shower and a west facing private balcony. The second bedroom also has an ensuite bathroom with shower. A further toilet, off the living area, is available or visitor use.
The cottage interior is furnished in a scadanavian style to give it an uncluttered feel to be easily maintained.
There are two houses on the property with the owners permanently living in one whilst the cottage, situated 40 metres away with its own parking, has been established as visitor accomodation.
The location is very quiet and away from roads and the adjacent bush attracts significant birdlife.
Within a few minutes travel of the cottage are Palm Beach, Onetangi Beach and numerous vineyards and restaurants as well as the supermarket, golf course and many other activities.
This is Waiheke.
